Abstract
With the advancement of technology and industry and the resulting decrease in individuals’ direct dependence on their family members, a mindset has developed suggesting that relations with family members no longer play as significant a role in human growth and flourishing as they once did. Therefore, for devout believers who recognize the importance of maintaining connections with family members, it is vital to answer the question: “From the perspective of Qur’anic verses and the narrations of the Infallibles (PBUT), how broad is the concept of family, and what are the characteristics of the chosen family?” Among the narrations that address the institution of the family is the Hadith of Istifa’ from Imam Reza (PBUH), which was expressed during his debate with scholars from Iraq and Khorasan. In this discussion, Imam Reza (PBUH describes, interprets, and elucidates the attributes of the family of the Prophet (Ahl al-Rasul) as the chosen family. By researching the Qur’anic evidence within this narration and the surrounding material, one can conclude that from the perspective of the Qur’an and hadith, firstly, there are four types of family In this article, Hadith Istifa’ of Imam Reza (PBUH) is examined along with its Qur’anic evidence to describe the characteristics of the aforementioned types of family, ultimately clarifying why relationships, empathy, and collaboration with the family as represented by the Ahl al-Bayt should be given foremost importance. Consequently, the research method employed is based on library resources (narrative and exegetical works) and is of a descriptive-analytical type.
